When you have 3 credit cards and one monthly payment loan it represents 10% of the FICO credit score and when you add New Credit its also represents an additional 10% of the score. FICO scores range from 300 to 850 so 20% of the 550 points available to you can represent up to 110 points. The amount of points you obtain will depend on the amount of negative activity on your credit profile. Choose the number of cards you sign up for based on the number of cards you already have.
